What to have ready when you call

None of this is required — call us with none of it and we will still help. But the more of it you have, the closer the first conversation gets you to a real number.

For a home or a condominium

  • Roughly how many windows, and which rooms they are in.
  • Rough dimensions of the biggest pieces. A sliding lanai door is one large piece of glass and prices very differently from a bedroom window.
  • Which direction the worst glass faces. West and south-west elevations are usually the ones causing the problem.
  • What you want the film to fix: heat, glare, furniture and flooring fading, privacy, or holding the glass together if it breaks. These pull toward different films.
  • Whether the glass is single or double pane, and whether it is clear or already tinted from the factory.
  • If you are in a condominium: your AOAO or house rules on window film. Most Honolulu buildings specify a maximum exterior reflectance and some specify a shade, so that the tower reads as one surface from the street.
  • Photographs. They tell us more in ten seconds than a description does in ten minutes — email them across.

For a building, a boat or a stone surface

  • Total glass area if you know it. If you do not, the number of floors and the size of a typical window bay is enough to start with.
  • Which elevations, and whether the space behind that glass is air-conditioned. That decides whether the Hawaii Energy commercial rebate applies to it.
  • Access: what hours the work can happen, whether floors stay occupied, whether a lift or staging is needed, and where a vehicle can park.
  • For boats: which windows — wheelhouse, saloon or cabin — and whether the vessel is in the water or hauled out.
  • For stone and countertop protection: the material (marble, granite, quartz) and roughly how many square feet of surface.
  • For anything on Maui or off-island: tell us the size of the job. Scheduling and any travel are worked out case by case, and we will tell you what is realistic before you commit to anything.

Where we work

Honolulu County and Maui County. Hawaii is not one climate — the leeward side is hot and dry, the windward side is wet and humid, and central Oahu is hotter than either coast — so what we recommend changes with where you are. If your town is not on this list, call anyway; the list is where most of our work is, not a boundary.

Keith Kishi holds a California license in his own name, and we have completed large commercial installations on the mainland. Those are grouped separately so they are not confused with our Hawaii work. Mainland projects.

What we do not do

We do not tint cars.

Ace Glass Tinting works on flat glass only. Automotive tinting is a different trade with different film, different tools and different law, and we would rather send you to someone who does it properly than do it badly. If you reached this page looking for car tinting, this is not the place — no hard feelings.

We do not quote a final price over the phone.

We can tell you whether a job is small or large and which film is likely to suit. The number itself comes from measured glass, because that is what the price is calculated from. A firm figure given sight-unseen is a figure that changes later.

The checkable part

  • Window film is all this company does, on flat glass — homes, buildings, temples and boats. Not a sideline of a glazing or car business.
  • Window film has been this company's business since 2001, built on a film business that was already established before that.
  • Hotels, high-rise condominium towers, museums, temples and boats, as well as houses. The project pages name the buildings.
  • Every photograph on this site is our own work on a real job. No stock photography.
